GLAG 22
From February 8th to April 12th, myself and my cohort members have had the opportunity to participate in The Global Teach Ag Network for 2022. GLAG "empowers educators to address global issues in the areas of agriculture and food security. The Global Teach Ag Network connects global experts, practitioners, organizations, and businesses to educators around the world.". While I wish I could have participated in this opportunity more than I found time for, I still think this was a great opportunity for my cohort and Agriculture Education as a whole.
GLAG22 Special Event: Conflict and Agriculture
- I choose to participate in this live event mostly because I wanted to learn more about the current situation facing agriculturalists in Ukraine. Dr. Vitalii Dankeyvch, Professor, Polissia National University (Ukraine), provided key insights I had never heard about the challenges in Ukraine. The thing I liked most about this event was bringing the conversation back to my classroom. Since conflict first began, my students have been buzzing with opinions and information found via social media. As the teacher, I loved having heard a direct experience that I was able to share with my students. I was also able to relate a current situation to agriculture which was even better!
GLAGreads
- The intent for GLAGreads is to bring educators together to talk about different challenges facing agriculture. Throughout the weeks, we read the book "Our Changing Menu" and responded to various prompts online. I wasn't able to participate online until just this past week but I really enjoyed everyone's opinions about each topic. I especially loved hearing from some of my favorite cohort members!
