Week 11 investment Fall 2021

Week 11 Investment

Returning from National Convention last week, my brain is here, there, and everywhere. I can't believe we're already entering week 11 of this semester. Enjoy this week's Investment!

3 Connections to My Student Teaching Internship

  1. I wanted to include this visual representation of one of the readings because I felt like it was a nice snapshot of how I will applying Inquiry in my student teaching internship. By breaking down the different aspects of reflection, I am able to see ways I might apply this model to my classroom. Further, I could easily reference this diagram rather than sift through a much longer document.
  2. Another connection I made to my student teaching was the idea of students using their hands and minds to create learning. In AEE 412 and my TeachAg journey in general, we have put a lot of focus on allowing students to have hands on experiences and create their own learning. I think this method is a perfect example of applying these techniques in the classroom. As a future educator, I recognize the importance of students creating their own knowledge and understanding. In my future classroom I plan on applying these skills to better serve my students.
  3. Finally a connection I made to my student teaching was the concept of exploration. I believe that true education is not a one size fits all model. By giving my students opportunities like this, where they are able to explore, they essentially are tailoring their education to suit themselves, their interests, and their needs.

2 Connections to Other Courses

  1. A big way I found that these readings connect to my other courses would be the strategies of autonomy we learned about in classes such as AEE 295. I feel like this process is a really good example of ways we can utilize student autonomy in our classrooms.
  2. Looking at different student/learner needs in my special education class, I can closely relate this process. Through each step of the process, there are many different skills and thought processes being tasked of the student. By utilizing these different methods, I am able to better accommodate all student learning styles and strengths rather than just a select few. Additionally, this allows for more accommodations to be made for students with IEPs.

1 Triangulated Connection

    1. I thought this website might be a useful resource to learn more about this topic. It provides practical application and easy to follow advice that might be helpful in the classroom.
